When is it a good fit?

This option is most useful when an elevated deck has usable space underneath. Plan it during new construction or a resurfacing project while the tops of the joists are accessible.

How does it compare?

RainEscape is an additional drainage system, not a type of Trex decking board and not an automatic part of every Trex deck. It is installed above the joists before the floorboards go down. Retrofitting normally requires removing decking for access. An underside ceiling alone does not provide the same above-joist water collection.

Care & installation considerations

Proper slope, sealed seams, flashing and a clear drainage outlet are essential. Maintain the system as the manufacturer directs. Drainage does not turn an open area into a fully enclosed, weather-sealed room; rain can still enter from the sides.
