WHY CHOOSE IT
Benefits for your home
- Create a defined place for seating, outdoor dining or everyday access.
- Refresh worn flooring when the structure is suitable to keep.
- Coordinate the floor, steps and surrounding finishes with your home.
When is it a good fit?
Start with the goal: replacing the walking surface is a different project from building a new deck. A porch improvement may focus on the floor, the enclosure or the connection to the house.
How does it compare?
Wood offers a natural finish but needs periodic finish care. TimberTech and Trex offer manufactured boards with less routine refinishing. They often cost more initially, and collections differ in appearance and performance. Decking boards alone do not keep the area below dry; an optional drainage system such as Trex RainEscape addresses that separately.
Care & installation considerations
Keep the walking surface clean and inspect loose boards, connections and damaged areas. Wood finishes need periodic attention according to the chosen product. The project’s size, height, stairs and railings should be settled before pricing.
